A beacon of light within our lives. Forever remembered.
Joshua Terrell Davis was born in Washington, DC on May 4, 1998 to Gary and Belinda Davis. He was the youngest of four children. His siblings are Joseph Davis, Sr.(Angela), Jessica Sheppard(Gary), and Jade’ Davis. Joshua had two nephews, Joseph Davis Jr. and Lucas Sheppard, and one niece Valencia Davis. Joshua was an entrepreneur, North Carolina A&T graduate, basketball player, chess and card player. Joshua loved traveling, and Miami beach was his favorite spot. Joshua’s smile and personality would light up the entire room. His acts of kindness to his family, friends, and neighbors were insurmountable. He loved us all. Joshua passed away on August 3, 2020. His passing was sudden and devastating.
Joshua had a genetic variant associated with Loeys-Dietz Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that enlarges and weakens the aorta. Joshua’s aorta tore, and it was fatal. He did not show any signs of this syndrome throughout his entire life. Joshua’s family is heartbroken, but grateful that he lived life to the fullest. He was so much fun and did whatever he wanted to do. If this condition were discovered earlier in his life, Joshua would have been limited to do the things that he loved, and his life would have been different. Joshua lived his dash in life, and God had favor on him. God blessed Joshua and our entire family during his 22 years on this earth. Now, he is our Angel in Heaven, and one day we will all see him again.
– Joshua’s Mommy, Belinda Davis
Our goals are to provide information what Loeys-Dietz syndrome is, and educate the public about Loeys-Dietz syndrome and other connective tissue disorders; to support research about Loeys-Dietz syndrome; to provide scholarships to African American Men attending North Carolina A&T; to support the community through community development projects, and other donations.
Our first goal is to distribute information about what Loeys-Dietz syndrome is to the public through social and community events in Washington, DC and the surrounding area. The Foundation will contribute annually to the Marfan Foundation on behalf of research for the Loeys-Dietz syndrome in Joshua Terrell Davis’ name
Our second goal is to provide scholarships to African American Men attending North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, NC. All applicants applying for the scholarships must attend Charles Herbert Flowers High School in Prince Georges County.
Our third goal is to provide community development projects for underprivileged youth in the DMV area. These projects will include Backpacks for Josh stuffed with school supplies, purchasing school uniforms for students, supporting tutoring programs for primary and secondary education, food donations to the needy, and Santa Josh for Christmas.
